ECR Community News Update March 2022

Our Q2 meeting is now scheduled to take place in Barcelona on 19/20th May. Thank you to Jordi Mur and AECOC for kindly agreeing to host.

We currently have 10 people confirmed to travel for this meeting, however it would be great to see even more of you in person for the first time in over 2 years!

Agenda

The agenda will be finalised over the coming weeks and shared with the group. However the following timings are being proposed; this should allow those traveling to arrive on the Wednesday morning and leave the Thursday evening.

On Wednesday we will focus on National updates and Thursday will be interactive sessions on our focus area.

Our Q1 meeting took place virtually on 24/25th February.

ECR National & Partner Updates

Leonel & Alejandra from Logyca in Colombia provided an update on their OSA Study.

Teresa from ECR Austria presented an update on their ECR Day, Graphic Design Ideas and the Packaging Design for Recycling Guide.

Nick from EuroCommerce provided an overview of upcoming legislation on the circular economy and packaging.

Konbright from ECR China provided an update on their activities including their conference, case study development and the translation of the ECR Community Circular Economy guide to Chinese.

Mateusz from ECR Poland provided an update on the Navigor app.

The slides, recordings, and minutes have been shared via email. As always, please get in touch if you are interested in giving an update the next quarterly meeting.

ECR Community has formed a global category management network. The objective is to provide a forum for category management peers to develop category management knowledge & experience throughout the world.

A Steering group has been assembled with leading international category management experts, retailers, suppliers & service providers.

Two webinars have now been scheduled, for April and June.

Webinar 1: Focus on the Impact & Implications of Inflation and how Category Management can Contribute

The Review of Circular Economy Case Studies in the Retail & CPG sector has been well received with more than 570 downloads from 45 countries since its launch in mid-January.

We have now completed two webinars to disseminate the launch. The first on February 1st and the second on March 22nd. Both had 160+ registered with an attendance of 90+ on the day.

At the launch webinar, we were joined by Lenneke Schils from GfK, Fernando Ventura from Jeronimo Martins and Yana Kreybel from The Cameleon Group to discuss how companies should be implementing circular practices in their business.

On the first webinar of the series, we were joined by Isabelle Haslinger & Erich Schlenz from Henkel in Austria, Sunny Bhasin from Renew Technologies in Hungary, and Anais Ryterband from Pandobac in France. The focus area for ECR Community for 2022 is to collect, share, and promote the work that ECR Nationals are doing on sustainability.

In Q2 we will be conducting a survey of the Nationals and Partners to better understand the sustainability topics they are working on and publish a plan accordingly. We have already had some topics put forward, such as Environmental labelling, and are working on how best to incorporate these into the plan.

We will be establishing a working group for this area so if you are interested in being involved please let me know.

A decision was taken by the group at the Quarterly Meeting to focus on promoting the work being done by ECR National's on sustainability.

This will be done through webinars, newsletters, infographics, and stories on our website.

We will continue to identify opportunities to collaborate & support global sustainability initiatives where they meet the ECR Community objective of peer to peer learning, networking, and best practice. If you have any suggestions please get in touch.

ECR Community are delighted to welcome GS1 Sweden as a member to ECR Community.

Our main point of contact will be Ebba Karrlander who is ECR Project Manager at GS1 Sweden.

Please join me in welcoming Ebba to ECR Community and we look forward to working with GS1 Sweden across our various activities.

The ECR Community General Assembly will take place at the Q2 meeting on 19/20th May.
